Pet-friendly holiday lodges Devon
Stay in pine lodges, holiday lodges or log cabins in Devon.
If the thought appeals to you of spending a holiday close to nature, but not that close to be sleeping under canvas and cooking outside on a primus stove, then you should try a lodge holiday. The real get-away from it treat for you, your family and your pet dogs.
A holiday lodge offers you all the luxury and comforts of home while surrounding you with as much seclusion and open space as you want. Take in and enjoy the sights and sounds that nature serves up, whether in a forest environment or on a secluded costal stretch. Make your own entertainment, or choose a family lodge on a holiday park with everything included. Relax and relish the peace and quiet or opt for an activity holiday. A lodge holiday or short break is so very flexible.
Devon offers fabulous settings for lodges
Holiday in a pretty location surrounded by beautiful Devon scenery
Devon is the perfect location for a lodge holiday offering you much variety in settings. If a wild and rugged landscape is your bag then Dartmoor or Exmoor will provide it – with interest. Pack the walking boots, grab the dog’s lead and set off for a countryside adventure like no other. Both National Parks include established walks and a host of attractions including picturesque villages and pubs, many serving up locally grown produce. There are facilities for riding both horses and bikes and all around wildlife roams free and safe. Base yourself near to the coast or deep into the moors, everywhere you’ll find plenty of dog friendly lodge getaways to make the trip even more spectacular.
Devon dog friendly lodges in fine locations are plentiful throughout Devon, none more so than on or near its popular beaches. From Torbay and South Hams in South Devon to the more spectacular northern coastline you’re really spoilt for choice. Fishing, sailing, surfing, body boarding, or simply lazing and walking on glorious beaches. Devon is your destination. There are many populated family holiday parks on the coasts that allow usually up to as many as three dogs. And if you prefer there are smaller, quieter parks and lodge clusters that are suitable for more mature couples and their dogs.
It must be remembered that few, if any, are entirely for dog owners and that the wishes of other holidaymakers must be honoured. Not everyone is happy nearby dogs and some people are terrified of them. So always be aware and make sure you keep your dogs on their best behaviour. Read the rules of the park or lodges regarding dogs and stick to them. Keep your dogs on a lead until it is absolutely safe to let them loose, keeping control at all times. Do not leave your dogs alone in the lodge unless you are 100% sure that it will not disturb others and wherever you go make sure you have water, food and the means of cooling down on a very hot day.
It is your dogs’ holiday as well as yours so make sure that they enjoy it and are not confronted by difficult situations or frightening experiences such as loud noises, like those found at pleasure parks. Your pets are part of the family so treat them that way.
Happy holidays to you all.
